AKASHI WHISKY UMESHU
Crafted by Eigashima Shuzo, one of Japan's oldest family-run distilleries with over 100 years of whisky-making experience, AKASHI Whisky Umeshu reflects a legacy of craftsmanship dating back to 1919, when the distillery became the first in Japan to obtain a whisky distillation license.
Breaking away from the traditional Japanese umeshu craftsmanship of using shochu as the base liqueur, Eigashima Shuzo steeps freshly harvested Kishu-Nanko green plums and caster sugar in Akashi whisky for eight months. Harvested annually from late May to early June, this unique whisky-based plum wine delivers a more balanced and delicious taste.
It is rich and well-balanced, with citrus and vanilla aromas, moderate sweetness, and a lingering finish of woody notes with the distinctive character of whisky.
